| He is widely respected for his insistence on high standards of design and it is his attention to precision and detail which is fundamental to the success of his designs, and the established standard of any project. As a designer, Kevin Cawley believes in the critical importance of client consultation, ensuring that clients are informed of every step of the design process without being burdened by detail. His aim is to make the best possible use of available space and his solutions to problems of light and space are often deceptively simple. |
| Kevin’s designs encompass a wide range of retail spaces including clothing stores, pharmacies, travel agents, vehicle showrooms, gift shops and sportswear shops but also extend to “events” and “theatrical” lighting reflecting his interest and experience in these fields. Kevin has attended workshops and seminars on new trends in lighting in the United Kingdom and U S A and is in regular contact with international designers at the forefront of the industry. |
| Students at both the University of Otago and the Design College of New Zealand have benefited from Kevin’s ability and willingness to share his skill, experience and knowledge of current practices in the lighting industry. Awards abound in Kevin Cawley’s career. These include National Lighting Design Awards and National Retail Design Awards, and Kevin continues to design for theatrical productions, being in great demand in both New Zealand and Australia. |
