Christchurch Memorial Returned and Services Association, New Zealand

This was a special project for me because my father was an Honouree member of the RSA after serving in the Merchant Navy during World War II. He was also the founder of the Merchant Navy Association of New Zealand.

The main feature of the project was the lighting of all exterior walls with a warm colour. The main purpose of this was to show respect to all those service people who never came home from War. This warm colour had to be very specific because of the unique tiling on the walls. The lighting had to allow the beauty of the tiling to shine through.

The outside lighting is very inviting for members and their guests, highlighting the exterior tiling and other special features of the building. I used LED throughout the design.

Once again architects Warren and Mahoney were a pleasure to work with. The RSA team were also a great team to be involved with.

I'm pleased to say the project was completed on time to be ready for the 100th ANZAC Day Anniversary commemorations.
